As part of our Good vision for life consumer campaign, all Optometry Australia members have access to a collection of free eye health brochures and forms that can be downloaded and shared with your patients.

The brochures cover a wide range of eye health related topics, including common eye conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts, myopia, keratoconus, colour vision and more. There are also brochures encouraging regular eye examinations, factsheets on children’s vision and safe driving, and tips on contact lens care and how to look after glasses.

For patients who may require further imaging and scans, there is also a brochure explaining the different diagnostic tests, such as retinal photography, visual fields, optical coherence tomography and corneal tomography.

These resources can be downloaded or printed, giving members the flexibility to either send them to their patients as an electronic copy, or include them as part of their patients’ after-care protocol.

National Marketing & Engagement Manager Trinity Scarf said: ‘We developed these assets as part of our larger Good vision for life campaign, Optometry Australia’s initiative to increase awareness of eye health and promote the importance of seeing an optometrist regularly.

‘The brochures are a great tool for optometrists to use in their practice; the information is all up-to-date and is presented and explained in a way that is easy for patients to understand.

‘As outlined in our 2022 Vision Index, the importance of maintaining eye health has never been greater. Research has shown us that 97% of Australians experience at least one eye-related issue, yet 13% have never had an eye exam with an optometrist.

‘These brochures will supplement the great care that optometrists already provide to their patients, and hopefully act as another reminder for patients to book in routine eye checks. Members can also use them to support the patient-recall process, with space down the bottom of the page to add in practice details.’
