Optometrists can contribute to the early stages of a review of the Code of Conduct for registered health practitioners.

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) and the National Boards are seeking feedback from registered practitioners to help inform the scope and priorities of the review.

Ahpra has asked professional associations, including Optometry Australia, to help raise awareness of the consultation among registered practitioners.

At this early scoping stage, practitioners are being asked to share their perspectives on what is working well, emerging challenges and issues they believe should be explored further as the review progresses.

For optometrists, this is an opportunity to bring practical experience from everyday professional practice directly into the process.

No proposed changes to the Code are being consulted on at this stage.

Instead, survey feedback will help Ahpra and the National Boards identify priorities and inform future consultation activities as the review progresses.

As the peak body for optometry in Australia, OA encourages members to contribute their perspectives directly through the survey.
