Total Eyecare ProVision Optometrists in Tasmania have set a goal to raise $5,000 for Optometry Giving Sight’s World Sight Day Challenge.

Caitlyn Williams, fundraising events co-ordinator at Total Eyecare, said they will be holding a trivia quiz night on 14 October.

‘We raised more than $4,000 with our quiz night last year, so we decided we would hold another one this year in the hopes of cracking the $5,000 mark,’ she said.

‘Total Eyecare has a long and proud history of supporting Optometry Giving Sight, ranging from our optometrists travelling to East Timor several times a year to conduct eye exams and training, to donation boxes on the front counter of our nine practices in the south of Tasmania, “Dress casual for a cause” days and our annual quiz night,’ she said.

‘This year the fundraising team is headed by me, Jess Norman and Shelby Collins. All three of us are pretty set in our ways so if we set a goal, we will beat it.’

Total Eyecare Optometrists were the first in Australia to sign up for the World Sight Day Challenge this year.

‘This is set to be our biggest fundraising event yet. The support from local businesses and our supply partners has been overwhelming, offering donations including goods and services, and vouchers to raffle off and use as prizes throughout the night,’ Ms Williams said.
