Optometrists have until 31 October to comment to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency on international criminal history checks.

A public consultation on international criminal history checks has opened with all 14 boards in the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme inviting comment from their respective professions.

The consultation paper contains a proposal to refine international criminal history checks for applicants for registration who have lived overseas.

For information, go to the Current Consultations section on the AHPRA website at www.ahpra.gov.au.

Any member who wishes to comment can email directly to AHPRA criminalhistoryconsult@ahpra.gov.au by close of business on 31 October 2013, or indirectly to the Optometrists Association Policy team at policy@optometrists.asn.au

Member comment to the association will help form the development of the association’s submission.
