Independent optometry practice, Kosmac and Clemens Optometrists, won the award for Business of the Year at the Bendigo Business of the Year Awards on 11 October.

The awards ceremony and dinner, in its 20th year, attracted over 400 people.

The practice’s win made front pages news in the Bendigo Advertiser and headlined the local Win TV News Bulletin on the following Monday.

Director of the practice, Ian Clemens, said he was immensely proud of his staff. ‘We are overwhelmed to win such a prestigious award,’ he said.

The judges of the awards said that they were impressed by the way Kosmac and Clemens differentiated themselves from their competitors with an OCT and specialised children’s vision clinic.

‘They also mentioned that the passion shown by our staff during the judges’ visit to our practice was great,’ Mr Clemens said, ‘and we close all five stores once a month for a half-day staff meeting, which they felt was admirable.’

One of the team’s young members of staff was a finalist in the trainee/apprentice of the year category.
