Two Optometry Western Australia members and one Optometry NSW/ACT member were among the winners of Specsavers’ Australian and New Zealand Awards for Excellence.

Optometrist Roland Tan‘s store in Hornsby, New South Wales won the Professional Excellence Award, and Geraldton optometrist Jacques Breytenbach‘s store won an Excellence in Team Culture Award. Optometrist Binita Natha‘s Perth store won an Excellence in Customer Service Award.

Specsavers presented 12 awards in seven categories to its Australian and New Zealand partners. The awards presentation dinner took place following a full-day Partnership Seminar at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on 8 March.

About 750 people attended the dinner. A cheque for $121,500, raised by Specsavers franchise partners, was presented to Make A Wish Foundation CEO Gerard Menses.

Specsavers Australia and New Zealand CEO Paul Fussey revealed record annual results at the Partnership Seminar.

Specsavers says its Australian stores achieved $708 million annual sales for the first time, up from $630 million in 2013-2014. This represented annual average sales of $2.35 million per store.

New Zealand stores reached $106 million in annual sales, compared with $90 million in 2013-2014. Average annual sales per store stood at $2.04 million.

Specsavers reports that more than three million eye tests were completed across the two countries, and 3.8 million pairs of glasses were dispensed in the same period.
