PBS co-payment and safety net amounts rise

The Department of Heath has revised PBS co-payment and safety net amounts, in line with changes in the consumer price index. The following changes are effective from 1 January 2014:

• the general patient co-payment increases from $36.10 to $36.90
• the concessional co-payment increases from $5.90 to $6.00
• the general safety net threshold increases from $1,390.60 to $1,421.20
• the concessional safety net increases from $354.00 to $360.00.
