Optometry Australia and the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia have jointly presented a webcast on professional collaboration in eye care.

Pharmacist Tran To and Optometry Australia national clinical policy adviser Simon Hanna presented the webcast to pharmacists in Victoria.

Ms To discussed common eye conditions seen in the pharmacy and the role of pharmacists in the management of these conditions.

Mr Hanna gave an overview of eye health in Australia and optometry’s role, and spoke about when to refer patients to optometrists and other health professionals including GPs, emergency departments and support organisations.

Pharmacists posed questions to Mr Hanna at the end of his presentation about sunglasses regulation and UV protection, and advice for elderly patients with arthritis using eye-drops.

The webcast, which is part of Optometry Australia’s ongoing Professional Partnership program, was presented on 1 August. View the webcast.
