QLD/NT Awards
Optometry Queensland & Northern Territory offers three annual awards.
Final Award
The Final Award is a post-graduation award, decided upon in February after graduation year.
Education Voucher
The Education Voucher is awarded to a first-year optometry student at the beginning of the following year.
Annual VISIONaries Awards
The Annual VISIONaries awards are presented at the VISIONaries: past, present and future event which is held in October/November each year. This awards night celebrates QUT graduating students, reunionists and award recipients.
The 2019 award recipients were:
- The Hon Bill Hayden AC Queensland Optometrist of the Year Award – David Bradley
Recognition for a member of the division who has worked tirelessly to increase the standing of the profession and enhance the achievements of optometry to serve the community. - Queensland & Northern Territory Young Optometrist of the Year – Emily Henry
Presented to an optometrist who has graduated within the last 10 years, and who has displayed outstanding contributions to the profession. - Hamlyn R Brier Clinical Optometry Award – David Stephensen
Presented to recognise excellence in clinical optometric practice. - Peter J Montgomery Award for Social Justice – Dr Shelley Hopkins
Presented to an optometrist who has made a significant contribution to social justice issues for patients.
