Bursaries for Early Career Optoms to develop indigenous health capability
Optometry Australia is looking to support two early career optometrists in developing their interest and knowledge in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.

Additionally, throughout Australia optometrists are authorised to possess, use and prescribe scheduled medicines – in the form of topical eye drops – such as anti-inflammatory and corticosteroid eye drops to treat eye diseases such as conjunctivitis, keratitis, uveitis and glaucoma.
Optometrists in Australia can also treat Department of Veterans’ Affairs cardholders.

Effective collaboration with optometrists can enhance patient care, reduce hospital waiting lists and allow patients to receive care without the need for travel.
