Learning Objectives

  • Counsel a patient pre-operatively on IOL selection and refractive aims
  • Manage a routine post-operative cataract patient
  • Discuss the role of antibiotics during and after cataract surgery
  • Identify treatment options following complicated cataract surgery. Including post operative cystoid macular oedema, elevated intraocular pressure and corneal oedema
  • Appreciate options for delivery of medications instead of eye drops post cataract surgery
  • Identify and explain to a patient the different IOL options available and have a basic understanding regarding potential visual outcomes
