Learning Objectives
- Practical approach to assessing ocular hypertension, glaucoma suspects and glaucoma patients with respect to their clinical history, optic disc appearance, visual fields, and imaging test results
- Understand the evidence supporting the use of SLT laser treatment as a viable option for patients with ocular hypertension and glaucoma
- Perform gonioscopy in assessing the anterior chamber angle in patients with various types of glaucoma
- Understand the differential diagnoses of various fundus appearances
- Understand the appropriate ophthalmic and non-ophthalmic investigations for various retinal diseases
- Understand the management of various retinal diseases and be able to explain this to patients and encourage compliance with treatment plans
- Perform a methodical and logical stepwise assessment of the watery eye in the clinic and assess for its possible aetiology
- Explain to patients the emerging new treatment options for retinal conditions including dry AMD and understand the increasingly important role of monitoring progression of GA in view of these developments
