Activity Outline
The event will consist of multiple small group stations that participants will rotate through and will be interactive or hands-on. The topics will be relevant and use people or cases that will help optometrists develop skills and understanding of ophthalmological conditions.
Learning Objectives
- After this session participants will have a better understanding of which retinal findings help guide them to a correct patient diagnosis
- Enhance understanding of pre op counselling for patients with cataract plus another comorbidity. Is it worth doing the surgery? What special precautions need to be considered? Understand the role of newer forms of lens technology for this group of patients
- Understand the importance of timely management of keratoconus
- Understand the various options available to Fuchs Dystrophy patients
- Improve awareness of complications of poor CL hygiene
- Understand the importance of not undertreating paediatric ocular surface disease
- Understand the importance of biometry to achieve excellent cataract surgery results and the importance of auditing your own data
