Activity Outline

This educational evening will have a focus on managing and diagnosing keratoconus and myopia from an optometry point of view. The first session will have a focus on keratoconus and the second session will have a focus on myopia management. There will be multiple OBA board certified optometrists presenting lectures within each session using PowerPoint slides followed by multiple-choice questions as a form of knowledge check. Additionally, there will be smaller group sessions lasting 10 minutes in duration in each session which will discuss specific cases in terms of diagnosis and management. 

Learning Objectives

  • Develop your ability on how to diagnose keratoconus and identify red flags as well as understand how to appropriately assess for keratoconus progression.
  • Develop an understanding on the effect that keratoconus has on quality of life and the complex nature of keratoconus
  • Understand the nomenclature of rigid contact lenses and what each contact lens is used for. Identify what patients are suitable candidates for rigid contact lenses
  • Develop an understanding on the latest ocular imaging instruments and the applications for them
  • Develop an understanding on the latest myopia management research.
  • Identify suitable candidates for Night Lenses compared to other myopia management options
