Learning Objectives
- List the range of inherited dystrophies of the posterior segment – vitreoretinal dystrophies, rod dystrophies and cone dystrophies
- Demonstrate an understanding of the inheritance patterns of the more commonly encountered dystrophies and the genetic counselling of patients who may transmit the conditions
- Explain the clinical features and differential diagnostic signs of the more commonly encountered dystrophies
- Discuss the role of the rapidly expanding field of genetic therapy – in particular, Luxturna - that may offer ways of addressing some vitreoretinal diseases.
