Activity Outline

This activity is designed to offer optometrists an opportunity to learn about the latest updates in the diagnosis and management of AMD. Optometrists can read the clinical practice guide and complete the associated MCQs to obtain quality assured CPD hours.

Learning Objectives

  • Be familiar with the recommendations for optometrists providing care for patients with AMD
  • Identify risk factors for AMD development and progression, and counsel patients appropriately regarding modifiable risk factors
  • Correctly classify patients with AMD based on clinical signs and calculate the 5-year risk of progression to late AMD
  • Articulate the role of ocular imaging and imaging biomarkers in the assessment and management of patients with AMD
  • Recognise suitable review and referral timeframes for all stages of AMD
