Activity Outline
Designed to provide eye care practitioners with advanced knowledge and practical skills necessary for diagnosis and management of common childhood vision disorders.
The Advanced Paediatric Eye Care Short course is designed for busy working professionals, with interactive self paced online delivery supported by case-based webinars that brings together knowledge from across paediatric eye care domains. The 30 hours of course content is delivered over six weeks, and includes four 2-hour interactive webinars for case-based clinical care discussions.
The course materials have been prepared by a diverse and accomplished faculty, comprising optometrists, ophthalmologists, orthoptists, and developmental paediatricians. This interdisciplinary approach ensures a comprehensive and well-rounded perspective on paediatric eye care. By drawing from the expertise of professionals in various fields, the course offers a rich and holistic understanding of the subject matter, enhancing your knowledge and skills in paediatric optometry and strabismus.
The course emphasises the importance of the comprehensive childhood vision examination, the management of childhood refractive error, evaluation and management of common childhood strabismus and diagnosis and treatment of amblyopia.
Through the progression of this course, you will reflect on broader clinician capabilities, including the ability to translate research evidence practice and apply communication skills required for paediatric clinical practice with patient-centred care in mind.
By the end of this course, you will be equipped with the tools, knowledge and insight required for management of common childhood vision disorders in Australia and beyond.
