Activity Outline
Join Shonit Jagmohan and Jue Wang at Bossley Bar and Restaurant as they showcase the latest advancements in orthokeratology and scleral lens fitting. Through real-world case studies, they will highlight innovative techniques for correcting complex refractive errors, and managing complex conditions like keratoconus, corneal grafts, and ocular surface disease. Discover how cutting-edge technology is transforming patient outcomes in specialty contact lens care.
This educational session will be delivered by two expert speakers, each presenting for 40 minutes and followed by a 10-minute interactive session to allow participants to engage in discussions and apply their knowledge. Each speaker will present relevant research and multiple case studies to provide a comprehensive understanding of orthokeratology and scleral lenses in clinical practice.
Learning Objectives
- Understand the principles and mechanisms of orthokeratology in managing myopia, high astigmatism, and hyperopia, including the corneal reshaping process and its impact on visual acuity
- Understand how cutting-edge technologies, including advanced contact lens designing software, can enhance the fitting process for highly complex cases, improving visual outcomes and patient comfort
- Demonstrate how to optimize orthokeratology lens fitting to maximise the myopia control effect, including the integration of combination therapy with atropine for enhanced treatment outcomes
- Understand the role of scleral lenses in managing dry eye disease, keratoconus, and complex ocular conditions, integrating evidence-based research and practical case discussions
- Understand how cutting-edge technologies, including scleral contact lens design customisatio, quadrant specific design HOAs control, can improve visual outcomes and comfort for highly complex cases
- Explore the therapeutic management of dry eye and ocular surface disease, including pharmacological and over-the-counter treatments in conjunction with scleral lenses
