Learning Objectives
- Analyse OCT scans and visual field test results and understand the emerging OCT modalities to allow for earlier diagnosis of glaucoma
- Identify risk factors crucial to the diagnosis and progression of glaucoma
- Gain a deeper understanding of the various subsets of glaucoma and how they impact on disease progression and ultimately quality of life
- Revise the range of intraocular pressure (IOP) lowering drops available, including becoming familiar with the side effect profile of each subset of medication
- Understand the impact of ocular surface disease resulting from glaucoma drop use
- Increase awareness of alternatives to glaucoma eye drops, including the mechanism of action and the benefits and risks of these alternatives.
- Be exposed to emerging glaucoma treatment options, including surgical options
- Know the indications for surgical management
- Discuss the emerging concept of “interventional glaucoma"
- Understand the various minimally invasive glaucoma surgery options – istent infinite, Hydrus, miniject
- Understand the implications of cataract surgery in glaucoma patients
