Activity Outline

Dr Anton van Heerden will present an audit of cataract surgery patients receiving subconjunctival triamcinolone at the time of the procedure, discussing the risks and benefits of this intervention. Dr Daniel McKay will present clinical photographs demonstrating potentially subtle signs that may signify serious disease. Dr Roufail will explain "10 reasons I would choose SMILE PRO for my laser patients". Dr Cheng will present OCTA vs FFA - Is Fundus Fluorescein Angiography Obsolete and Dr Himanshu will present - Cataract Surgery in Fuch's heterochromic iridocyclitis (FHI)

  • Understand the risks and benefits of subconjunctival triamcinolone at the time of cataract surgery
  • Know what to look for in post-operative cataract surgery patients and recognise sight threatening complications and how to treat them
  • Know what to advise patients pre and post cataract surgery
  • Recognise signs to identify Fuch's heterochromic iridocyclitis
  • Know the precautions during cataract surgery and post-operative management
  • Be aware of the use of fundus fluorescein angiography in modern clinical practice
  • Learn the principles of OCT angiography and its increasing usefulness in modern clinical practice

  • Review clinical signs of the anterior segment and eyelid that may signify vision- or life-threatening disease
