Activity Outline

As part of MDFA’s Macular Month activities this event is designed for all health professionals who provide care for individuals with low vision, offering key insights to enhance care and improve patient outcomes. 

Learning Objectives:

• To define low vision and to understand the impact of low vision on daily living and quality of life.

• To explain the role of optometrists and other health professionals in diagnosing, managing and supporting patients with low vision.

• To explore the best practices to co-manage low vision patients among health professionals in a multidisciplinary approach.

• To understand the requirements for conditional licensing for drivers with low vision, the recommendation of driving restrictions vs driving cessation.

• To explore the use of bioptic telescopes for individuals with low vision.

This session will be presented by Dr. Sharon Oberstein, a leading expert in low vision rehabilitation, and Lisa Feng, a clinician and lecturer experienced in low vision and diabetes care. Their expertise will provide valuable insights into improving patient outcomes and fostering collaborative care.
