Activity Outline

This educational event will consist of 3 individual ophthalmologists delivering a detailed session on their topic of choice, each lasting roughly 30 minutes in duration.

Within each session, the ophthalmologist will deliver content in their chosen topic using PowerPoint slides followed by a questionnaire with multiple choice questions as a form of knowledge check. Additionally, at the end of each session there will be time for questions on their content and any questions you may have regarding specific patient examples, case studies and treatment options/methods.

Learning Objectives

  • Have a better understanding of the updated classification and diagnosis of dry AMD
  • Have a better understanding of new / emerging therapies for dry AMD
  • Develop a better understanding of the pre-operative assessment of a patient undergoing cataract surgery
  • Develop a better understanding of the lens choices available in cataract surgery, including the advantages and disadvantages of each
  • Understand patient specific considerations when performing cataract surgery in patients with retinal co-morbidities (E.g. diabetic retinopathy, myopia)
  • Increase confidence in knowing when glaucoma is suspected and thus when to refer, and interpret glaucoma investigations
  • Have a solid understanding of the spectrum and stepped approach of glaucoma treatmentfrom eye drops, laser, MIGS, to filtration surgery
