Learning Objectives

  • Confidently manage refractive expectations in patients undergoing cataract surgery
  • Demonstrate patients the pros and cons of various intraocular lenses.
  • Confidently differentiate and diagnose anterior, intermediate and posterior uveitis in optometric practice
  • Understand general systemic and ocular associations with uveitis.
  • Determine the best management course of uveitis in optometric practice.
  • Learn how to interpret Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) to diagnose and differentiate ARMD.
  • Recognise important mimics of ARMD.
  • Understand when to refer ARMD.
  • Be familiar with new medications for ARMD on the horizon.
  • Understand basic pathophysiology of GCA
  • Be familiar with wide range of ophthalmic & non-ophthalmic presentations of GCA
  • Obtain an update on newer investigations for diagnosis of GCA
  • Be familiar with treatment of GCA
