Learning Objectives

  • Understand IOL material properties in relation to biocompatibility, IOL glistening, IOL opacification, and capsular opacification.
  • Inform patients on various types of IOLs and their pros and cons
  • Gain an understanding of ocular biometry and its application in IOL calculations
  • Manage patient’s post -operative refractive expectations
  • Understand the etiology of positive and negative dysphotopsia after cataract surgery
  • Recognise symptoms of post -operative dysphotopsia and differentiate from other ocular abnormalities
  • Manage symptoms of post cataract surgery dysphotopsia in optometry practice
  • Understanding the etiology and pathogenesis of Endophthalmitis
  • Learn to conduct diagnostic workup, imaging and microbiological assessment and differential diagnosis
  • Recognize the clinical signs and symptoms of Endophthalmitis and timely manage the condition to preserving vision
  • Understand the importance of postoperative care and follow-up in optometry practice
