Topics include:

Oculoplastics: Eyelid Malposition, Glaucoma updates for 2025, Peripheral retina lesion: to refer or not, Medical retina cases and Uveitis compressed: 15 minutes to cover it all!

Speakers : A/Prof Alex Hunyor, Prof I-van Ho, Dr Richard Symes, Dr Aparna Raniga and Dr Michael Davies.

There will be various cases for discussion at the end of each topic with audience input along with an assessment.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify systemic conditions associated with eyelid malpositions
  • Gain an understanding of life-threatening causes of eyelid malposition
  • Gain an understanding of the management of eyelid malposition
  • Know the updates on treatment option
  • Understand the pivotal role of the optometrist through real world cases – revise red flags to prompt referral for consideration of treatment
  • Review the Micro Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) landscape - istent infinite, MiniJect and beyond
  • Be able to identify peripheral retinal lesion that is serious vs those that can be observed
  • Interpret widefield OPTOS Imaging
  • Know the usefulness of widefield imaging
  • Identify and diagnose retinal conditions, such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion, and macular edema
  • Interpret optical coherence tomography and fundus photography to assess retinal health and structure
  • Understand treatment plan based on the specific retinal condition, considering medical therapies like anti-VEGF injections for AMD or diabetic macular edema, corticosteroid therapy, or laser therapy
  • Understand and classify different types of uveitis
  • Recognize the causes and risk factors of uveitis
  • Understand the diagnostic and treatment plans for uveitis
