An interactive journey into the latest and greatest in Refractive and Cataract Surgery

You're invited to join us for an interactive educational session with Q&A opportunities to gain deeper insights into the following topics:
- Presbyond: the Trifocal killer and why it is the best treatment option for Presbyopia
- Extended Depth of Focus lenses. Not all lenses are created equally. The latest on the most advanced lens technology for spectacle independence
- Who CAIRS about keratoconus anymore?
- Let’s MIGS it up a bit- introducing the new Hydrus Glaucoma stent as the newest and most advanced micro-incisional stent in glaucoma patients
- Optometry co-management in refractive surgery cases

Learning Objectives

  • Optometrists will be made familiar with what Presbyond Laser blended vision is; how it is performed and how it works. An in depth discussion will be had about the use of spherical aberrations and how its induction alongside LASIK gives patient’s the best and safest form of Presbyopia management and how optometrist can identify and council patients on all the different presbyopia treatment options and refer appropriately.
  • Optometrists will be guided through all the different IOL options available for spectacle independence and an in depth focus will be on EDOF lenses and how and why it is superior to diffractive optics. Optometrists will be educated on the different technologies, how to council patients and to refer appropriately.
  • Optometrists will be guided in the latest management options for keratoconus and why there is a shift from lamellar surgery to procedures that rather preserve the patient’s own cornea. Optometrists will be introduced to CAIRS (corneal allogenic intrastromal ring segments)& how it is changing and revolutionised keratoconus management. Optometrists will be made familiar with the work-up and surgery with allogenic rings, utilising the femtosecond laser and specially prepared allogenic ring segments
  • Optometrists will be introduced to the latest Glaucoma MIG’s stent and how it is different and superior to all the others on the market. Optometrists will be guided on how to identify patients that might benefit from these devices vs SLT or medical management of their glaucoma. This will be an interactive session of questions and answers to enhance optometrist’s knowledge of MIG’s devices as well as to refer appropriately
  • This will be a clinical optometry lead discussion on how optometrists in practice can help to council and co-manage patient’s who are thinking about vision correction or who have had the procedure already. In depth discussions will delve into what important complications the optometrist should be aware of as well as managing expectations in these patients post-operatively. Optometrists will be educated on Ocular discomfort syndrome following laser and lens procedures
