Learning Objectives
- Describe the fundamentals of OCT
- Demonstrate an understanding of retinal anatomy and features
- Discuss the clinical applications of OCT
- Explain how OCT scans complement information that is obtained by direct clinical observation and fluorescein angiography
- List the OCT findings that are to be expected in various maculopathies and retinopathies
- Discuss the expected OCT findings that are associated with retinal vascular and ischaemic disease
- Discuss the role OCT and OCT- angiography in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma
- Identify the different patterns of loss in glaucoma that are evident with OCT
- Compare and contrast visual field and OCT changes in glaucoma
- Explain the integration of the RNFL and GCL scans in the evaluation of
the risk of glaucoma
- List the main OCT scan profiles
- List the criteria for selecting a particular OCT scan and the interpretation of the scan
- Recognise artefacts on an OCT scan
- Contrast fundus autofluorescence (FAF) and OCT
