Learning Objectives

  • EXPAND optometric knowledge of the neurochemistry and pathophysiologic changes that affect the whole person in Diabetes
  • DESCRIBE clinically appropriate therapeutic interventions for Diabetic maculopathy based on the RANZCO guidelines
  • LEARN critical skills used to prevent vision loss through structuring follow up intervals and by integrating our knowledge of key risk modifiers in the clinical pathways for eye health care.
  • Participants should learn that OCT has its limitations in diagnosing and excluding glaucoma
  • Participants should be aware of risk factors that may lead to misinterpretation of OCT in glaucoma assessment
  • Become familiar with the characteristics of microcystic macular edema in optic neuropathy
