Activity Outline
The diagnosis of dry eye disease can be confusing for
patients, many of whom do not experience the classic ‘desiccated’ feeling on
their eyeball surface, but rather complain of excessive wateriness of their
eyes. Alex Petty considers a practical approach to designing a dry eye disease
clinical workup to ensure you’re giving your patients the best chance of
improving their quality of life.
Learning Objectives
- Design a clinical assessment plan to diagnose dry eye disease and other ocular surface diseases
- Understand the key clinical signs of dry eye disease and identify some of the ocular surface diseases that may coexist with, or mimic, the symptoms of dry eye disease
- Understand how to select an appropriate lubricating eye drop for the different sub-types of dry eye disease
