Learning Objectives

  • Participants will be able to determine what dry eye is
  • Participants will be able to determine the different dry eye options
  • Participants will be able to describe different dry eye treatments
  • Participants will be able to commence dry eye therapies in their Optometry practice
  • Participants will be able to determine whether IPL is suited to their patients
  • Participants will know when to refer patients with dry eye to an Ophthalmologist
  • Participants will know the causes of tarsal cysts
  • Participants will be able to initiate treatment for tarsal cysts
  • Participants will appreciate combined care for certain eyelid conditions such as cicatricial ectropion
  • Participants will know the therapeutics commonly used medications and when it is appropriate to prescribe them
  • Participants will know common side effects of commonly used topical medications
  • Participants will appreciate issues with patients with dry eye and cataract surgery
  • Participants will be able to initiate dry eye treatments for patients with cataract surgery
  • Participants will be able to determine which dry eye patients are suited to IPL
