Activity Outline

This evidence-based, interactive CPD webinar provides an in-depth clinical update on the surgical management of early keratoconus and its implications for contact lens fitting. The session will cover two key interventions: corneal collagen cross-linking (CXL) and intrastromal corneal ring segments (ICRS), focusing on procedure types (epi-on vs epi-off), patient selection, timing, contraindications, and long-term outcomes. Emphasis will be placed on how each surgical approach alters topography, biomechanics, and lens fitting parameters. Using real case examples with ROSE K2 designs (KC, NC, IC, PG, XL), the webinar will offer practical strategies for achieving optimal visual and anatomical outcomes. Participants will gain tools for managing post-surgical complexities and enhancing patient care through integrated surgical-optical planning.

Learning Objectives

  • Differentiate between CXL (epi-on vs epi-off) and ICRS procedures, including indications, risks, and expected outcomes
  • Evaluate how corneal surgery alters fitting strategies for specialty contact lenses, including ROSE K2 designs
  • Apply evidence-based criteria to determine the optimal timing and design for contact lens fitting post-surgery
  • Interpret literature and case-based insights to manage complications and optimise patient outcomes in surgically treated keratoconus
