Speakers:

A/Prof Alex Hunyor, Prof I-van Ho, Dr Robert Chong and Dr Aparna Raniga.

There will be a panel discussion of various cases at the end with audience input along with an assessment.

All presentations will be presented on power point.

Learning Objectives

  • Interpret and use OCT findings to differentiate between age-related macular degeneration and other masquerading conditions.
  • Develop a systematic approach to the interpretation of OCT and OCT-A images.
  • Understand surgical approaches utilized in the management of vitreoretinal pathology.
  • To know the signs for differential diagnosis
  • To work in conjunction with ophthalmologists to monitor certain eye conditions
  • Learn to distinguish which are the appropriate patients to refer
  • Learn to diagnose and manage diabetic retinopathy
  • Understand the surgical and non-surgical approaches to the treatment of diabetic retinopathy
  • To review the evidence of intervention in the management of diabetic retinopathy
  • Identify risk factors crucial to the diagnosis and progression of glaucoma
  • Increase awareness of alternatives to glaucoma eye drops, including the mechanism of action and the benefits and risks of these alternatives.
  • Be exposed to glaucoma treatment options on the horizon – e.g., biodegradable injectable devices impregnated with IOP lowering medication
  • Surgical treatment options, including discussing the emerging concept of “interventional glaucoma”
  • Revise the range of intraocular pressure (IOP) lowering drops available, including becoming familiar with the side effect profile of each subset of medication
