Learning Objectives

  • Understand the benefits of the world's first online keratoconus registry
  • To have an understanding of the optometry module that was developed by our key speaker of the night Prof Stephanie Watson
  • Identify the additional fields in keratoconic patients to track vision and contact lens-related outcomes and how to track and share with patients their own outcomes. In addition, improve patient understanding and compliance with therapy.
  • Identify patients who would be eligible to participate in the registry
  • Understand how to become involved in the Save Sight registry and a demonstration of data collection and statistical analysis
  • Understand how to differentiate and diagnose between similar presenting anterior segment cases
  • Have a sound understanding of treatment and management of the common presenting anterior segment conditions
  • Identify key factors in the initial diagnosis of anterior segment conditions- case studies presented
  • Be able to identify and describe various endothelial grafting procedures
  • List indications of these procedures and describe their presentations
  • Describe expected outcomes for endothelial procedures, as compared to penetrating keratoplasty
  • Understanding the use of ozurdex for the treatment of unilateral infective posterior uveitis and its usefulness when doing cataract surgery in uveitis patients
  • Understand the way we diagnose, investigate and treat uveitis using multimodal imaging
  • Have a sound understanding of how biologic therapy is revolutionizing the fight against noninfective uveitis
  • Understanding the importance of a good patient/ doctor relationship in the treatment of diabetic macular oedema with 10 anti-VEGF injections in the first 12 months of treatment as per the drcrnet protocols
  • Understand the therapeutic use of Brocolizamab as a possible longer-acting anti-VEGF
