Learning Objectives
- At the completion of the course, participants should be able to identify the normal anatomic features of the retina on OCT, recognise some typical OCT findings in common medical retinal conditions, and distinguish some common peripheral retinal findings seen on wide-field imaging
- Understand the different presentations of open and closed angle glaucoma2. Identify glaucoma drops that are commonly implicated in drug toxicity and ocular surface disease3. Understand the different types of glaucoma surgery, including the variety of MIGS procedures available in Australia
- Understand guidelines for refractive surgery in a young patient.2. Appreciate nuances of presbyopia management.3. Appreciate difficulties of cataract surgery in a corneal patient.
- Developing a diagnostic algorithm for vision threatening causes of a red eye2. Recognising the vision threatening causes of a red eye that need urgent referral onto an ophthalmologist based on history, predisposing risk factors and logical examination techniques.3. How to apply simple, readily available diagnostic tools when examining a red eye.
