Learning Objectives
- Perform basic differential diagnosis of eyelid lesions, deciphering whether it is acute or chronic, benign or malignant & be able to triage patients appropriately
- Recognise the effects of a poor ocular surface for patients undergoing Cataract surgery & the spectrum of techniques available, mechanisms involved & methodologies for improving the ocular surface
- Understand what Epithelial Basement Membrane Dystrophy is - how this condition influences outcomes of cataract surgery & what can be done to accurately identify and explain such impacts to patients
- Understand the functions of and common pathologies relating to the posterior cornea, lens & posterior segment of the eyeball, how to best triage patients and institute appropriate management plans
- Understand how the latest monofocal, EDOF & multifocal IOLs work in relation to visual acuity/visual quality & how lifestyle/visual demands impact on suitability of these lenses for certain patients
- Identify and diagnose patients with Central Serous Chorioretinopathy & formulate an appropriate management plan
