Learning Objectives

  • Describe the differential diagnoses for an amelanotic choroidal mass, and understand the most common causes of ocular choroidal metastasis, as well as the presenting symptoms for such lesions.
  • List the ocular conditions for which homocysteinaemia is a risk, and list the systemic problems which can be associated with this condition.
  • Describe the use of bisphosphonates and list the ocular side effects that can be associated with them. Understand when treatment with bisphosphonates should be discontinued.
  • Describe the signs and symptoms that can be associated with molluscum contagiosum, and list the differential diagnosis for chronic follicular conjunctivitis.
  • Describe which factors may suggest a poor prognosis for a traumatic optic neuropathy, and what potential treatment options may be considered.
  • Describe the signs and symptoms for neuroretinitis, and list the differential diagnosis for this condition. Describe some of the infectious and inflammatory causes for the condition.
  • List the systemic factors associated with the risk for retinal artery macroaneurysm, the ocular complications of the condition, and discuss potential approaches to management.
  • Describe the appearance, signs and symptoms and management of conjunctival cysts, and list differential diagnoses.
