Learning Objectives
- Become more familiarised with the inherent risk factors for further myopia progression
- Develop a customised myopia management plan for their patient
- Understand how to measure and monitor myopia control “success” and identify when a patient may benefit from combination treatments
- Understand how the biomechanics of the cornea can be used to diagnose and risk stratify glaucoma
- Develop a better understanding of the future of glaucoma diagnosis and management
- Appreciate how the management of keratoconus has evolved over time with new technologies and treatment options allowing for better vision for patients earlier in the disease
- Better understand how to approach patients with suspected keratoconus and to be aware of the state of the art technologies now available in Australia
- Become more familiarised with the causes and various types Rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD)
- Appreciate and address your patient’s anxiety and uncertainty by gaining insight of their journey from your office to the operating theatre and the following recovery period
- Better understand pre-operative considerations to help facilitate preparation of your patient for upcoming emergency surgery
- Develop a better understanding of various types of complex cataract surgery including traumatic, lens exchange and scleral fixated
- Become more familiarised with the indications, risk factors and patient considerations for cataract surgery
- Appreciate modern advances in the surgical management of cataract and combined cataract surgery
- Better understand unexpected intra-operative findings and addressing them promptly
- Become more familiarised with post-operative complications
- Better understand diabetic retinopathy from the pathological basis to the latest management guidelines
- Appreciate the use of OCT angiogram and intra-operative OCT imaging in the management of diabetic retinopathy
- Develop a better understanding of how to identify and manage both benign and malignant eyelid lesions
- Become more familiarised with how to grade dry eye severity and how that affects the patients management plan and review period
- Develop a better understanding of the equipment and techniques involved in evidence-based dry eye management
