Activity Outline
In a small group environment, a variety of irregular astigmatism/keratoconus cases will be presented by A/Prof Michael Goggin (Ophthalmologist) and Dr Rebekah Hopps (Optometrist), to highlight the spectrum of diagnostic and treatment challenges. Included study cases will demonstrate the effectiveness of the IVIS laser topography-driven approach for treating irregular astigmatism/keratoconus using customized corneal ablation with or without corneal stabilization techniques. The vital interaction of ophthalmologist and optometrist, on which success with these treatments depends, will be highlighted. The learning goals are to develop familiarity with both non-surgical and tailored surgical treatments that are available for irregular astigmatism/keratoconus patients, a rapidly changing field and the contribution optometry offers in this space.
