Learning Objectives

  • Have an understanding of the role of femtosecond lasers in corneal and refractive surgery
  • Have an understanding of the range of refractive surgical options currently available as well as the range of applicability of each Have an understanding of the pros and cons of each type of refractive surgery
  • Have an understanding of the optical issues associated with keratoconus and the issues involved with cataract surgery in the context of keratoconus
  • Have an understanding of what cell-based therapies are being investigated for corneal diseases and what may be available for clinical use in the near future
