Activity Outline
This educational evening will have a focus on managing and diagnosing keratoconus and myopia from an optometry point of view. It will provide a deeper understanding on how to diagnose early stage keratoconus and appropriately manage it. The evening will dive into all management options for someone with keratoconus and the impact that keratoconus has on quality of life. It will also explore the pathogenesis and management of myopia with all the latest updates in research.
The night will start off with a couple lectures on keratoconus and myopia before diving into interactive workshops exploring all the latest diagnostic equipment for keratoconus and myopia including the Corvis and RETeval ERG.
Learning Objectives
- Develop your ability on how to diagnose keratoconus and identify red flags as well as understand how to appropriately assess for keratoconus progression.
- Develop an understanding on the effect that keratoconus has on quality of life and the complex nature of keratoconus
- Understand the nomenclature of rigid contact lenses. Identify what patients are suitable candidates for rigid contact lenses
- Develop an understanding of what aberrations are and the impact in keratoconus
- Develop an understanding on the latest myopia management research.
- Identify suitable candidates for Night Lenses compared to other myopia management options.
