Activity Outline

Delivery:
Upon arrival, the evening will begin with a welcome from Dr Chilov Principal Ophthalmologist at Narellan Eye Specialists, John Cadwallader (Baush and Lomb) and Amanda El-Akkad (Rayner). The remainder of the evening will be delivered in 5 sessions which consist of presentations and multiple choice questions on completion.

Learning Objectives

  • To understand and be able to describe what CAIRS (Corneal Allogenic Intrastromal Ring Segments) is and be able to identify suitable candidates.
  • Understand the different lenses (Toric/Non-Toric/Multifocal/Trifocal/EDOF), expected visual outcomes and how to match a lens to patient needs.
  • To identify the patients who would be best suited to an EDOF IOL
  • Understand appropriate guidelines for treatment and management of glaucoma
  • Understand the contraindications of topical glaucoma medication
  • Appreciate the role of SLT in the treatment and management of glaucoma
  • Identify common features of Ocular Surface Squamous Neoplasia
  • Distinguish between pterygiums, ccular Surface Squamous neoplasia and other ocular surface lesions.
  • Classify the different types of ocular surface melanomas
  • Describe the treatment options available for Ocular Surface Squamous Neoplasia.
  • Indicate the risk factors for Ocular Surface Squamous Neoplasia.
  • Discuss the long-term management approaches with Ocular Surface lesions.
  • To appreciate the window of opportunity for removal of the eye in the event of sympathetic ophthalmia
  • To understand the types of removal of the eye available
  • To understand how sympathetic ophthalmia is managed
