Learning Objectives

• At completion of this CPD activity, participants should be able to understand the development of modern cataract surgery and to have a basic knowledge of the procedure.
• At completion of this CPD activity, participants should have an understanding of how cataract surgery is performed in developing countries and rural settings.
• At completion of this CPD activity, attendees should understand the clinical presentation of neovascular age related macular degeneration and the evidence behind current management and future treatment directions.
• At completion of this CPD activity, participants should be able to understand the three major classes of retinal detachments and more importantly attendees will broadly appreciate the different types of rhegmatogenous retinal detachments and the demographics of patient presentation.
• At completion of this CPD activity, participants should be have recognition of higher risk presentation and consequentially urgency for intervention will enable better referral pathway.
• At completion of this CPD activity, participants should be able to identify and understand the features, advantages and expected outcomes of different IOL types used in cataract surgery.
• At the completion of this CPD activity participants should be able to identify and discuss which IOL and vision correction options may suit a patient’s individual needs and should be able to confidently manage the visual needs of a patient with PCIOLs post-surgery and counsel them appropriately
