Activity Outline

Optometrist reads Optometry Connection educational publication in print or online.

Optometrist logs into OA Institute of Excellence and completes assessment questions developed from articles in Optometry Connection.

Optometrist will receive immediate confirmation upon completion and CPD Hours will be uploaded to the Learning Plan of their CPD Portfolio.

Optometrists completing online assessment will be able to review incorrect answers and have an opportunity to repeat the assessment activity in line with adult learning principles and OBA guidelines.

Opportunity to provide feedback and commentary provided by standard OA Institute of Excellence CPD Activity Feedback Form.

  • Outline the ocular complications of chronic kidney disease (CKD)
  • Apply diabetes benchmarks to optometric patient care
  • Use optical coherence tomography to assess patients with diabetes
  • Understand the therapeutic potentials, ocular effects and limitations of medicinal cannabis
  • Describe the scope of telemedicine and telehealth in optometry in Australia
  • Recognise new contact lens technology and innovation
  • Understand the role of optometrists in stroke prevention
  • Be aware of research using in vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM) and its potential use in diagnosing, monitoring, and treating corneal diseases
