Activity Outline

Optometrist reads Optometry Connection educational publication in print or online.

Optometrist logs into OA Institute of Excellence and completes assessment questions developed from articles in Optometry Connection.

Optometrist will receive immediate confirmation upon completion and CPD Hours will be uploaded to the Learning Plan of their CPD Portfolio.

Optometrists completing online assessment will be able to review incorrect answers and have an opportunity to repeat the assessment activity in line with adult learning principles and OBA guidelines.

Opportunity to provide feedback and commentary provided by standard OA Institute of Excellence CPD Activity Feedback Form.

Learning Objectives

• Understand the mechanism of action of psilocybin
• Understand the utility of psilocybin as an adjunctive treatment for treatment resistant depression, and the potential use in other mood disorders
• Apply key principles of quality use of medicines for optometrists
• Understand how polygenic risk factor scoring can be applied in glaucoma management
• Understand why migraine could increase the risk of glaucoma development and progression
• Identify which clinical tests of vision may be abnormal in people with migraine
• Understand the treatment options available for primary angle closure and primary angle closure glaucoma
• Recognise the signs and symptoms of primary angle closure
• Explore strategies to foster trust and open communication with patients facing facial eye disfigurement
• Assess keratoconus based on signs and symptoms
• Outline the management of keratoconus and considerations for treatment
