Learning Objectives

  • Be updated on some of the emerging treatments and clinical trials for geographic atrophy
  • Develop a better understanding of non-steroidal products available that target the inflammatory processes involved in dry eye disease
  • Better understand and undertake punctal plug occlusion and lacrimal lavage in the management of epiphora, including that relating to dry eye disease
  • Develop a better understanding of acute multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy and how patients with symptoms of headache associated with vision loss should be treated seriously and assessed in a timely manner
  • Develop a better understanding on the differences between monofocal and multifocal intraocular lenses on visual function, mobility and risk of falls
  • Develop a methodical process to better analyse and interpret OCT scan results
  • Better understand the importance of accessibility to eyecare and a collaborative approach to management between optometry and ophthalmology in the context of ocular disease
  • Better understand the care statements associated with the Cataract Clinical Care Standard
  • Better understand the growing role of Manuka medical honey in managing ocular surface disease
