Learning Objectives

  • Gain skills in triaging & referral management of retinal disorders
  • Know about the latest in new treatments available for dry AMD
  • Have a better understanding of new IOL options available, and how these will impact their patients' lifestyles post operatively
  • Be able to discuss the pros and cons of bilateral (same day) cataract surgery with patients
  • Know options available to address glaucoma management at the time of cataract surgery
  • Understand the approaches to and management of cataract surgery with retinal complications
  • Identify the common presenting symptoms and signs of ocular trauma
  • Understand the common patient demographics and activities at time of ocular trauma
  • Know about the Birmingham Eye Trauma Terminology and Ocular Trauma Score and how this influences patient prognosis after injury
  • Know the immediate medical and surgical management of ocular trauma
