Learning Objectives

  • As a result of this session: Dr Rosie Dawkins Objectives: 1 To gain an understanding of the use of simulators in surgical training. 2. To gain an understanding of the latest in vitreoretinal surgery instrumentation. 3. To gain an understanding of the future potential for use of robotics in ophthalmic surgery.
  • As a result of the participant attending this session, Dr Sczepan’s talk will have the following objectives: 1. Recognising retinal conditions which may affect outcomes in cataract surgery, 2. Identify patients at risk of adverse surgical outcomes from retinal conditions, 3 Learn about peropoerative management of retinal conditions to minimise risks of adverse outcomes in cataract surgery.
  • As a result of this session: Dr Ioannidis talk will have the following objectives: 1. To understand the importance of accurate pre-operative evaluation in the cataract patient 2. To see the techniques available at our disposal that can assist the optometrists in assessing the cataract patient. 3 To enhance the knowledge on various anterior segment diseases and their impact on vision in a candidate preparing for surgery
  • Q&A Session for the participants to allow them to clarify any questions they may have to cement their learnings.
  • As a result of this session Dr Suki Sandhu would like to update participants on the TALON trial and invite recruitment.
