Activity Outline

An update on the latest lenticular refractive laser technology - Johnson & Johnson ELITA using SILK to create a smooth lenticule. The advantages of the technology for patients will be discussed together with how this aligns with LASIK and PRK. Essential information on patient suitability for the co-managing optometrist.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify patient eligibility criteria for SILK surgery
  • Develop the ability to analyze topography scans for preoperative planning
  • Gain an understanding of the surgical process of SILK
  • Differentiate SILK from other refractive procedures like LASIK, PRK, and SMILE in terms of technique, recovery and outcomes
  • Identify the significance of refractive and corneal difference in planning astigmatic treatment using Vector Planning for optimal surgical outcomes
