Speakers

Matt Trinh is a clinician-researcher working in private practice and at UNSW, with a strong interest in retinal imaging. He completed his PhD at the Centre for Eye Health, developing new ways of clinically assessing AMD. He now works more broadly using retinal imaging and artificial intelligence to develop predictive (diagnostic and prognostic) models of retinal disease and systemic health. You may see him tumbling down the mountain, in style.

Andrew McKinnon has been CEO of Optometry NSW/ACT for over 20 years. He graduated with a Business Degree (UTS) in 1986 and since added an MBA and Graduate Certificate in Employment Law. He is passionate about supporting optometrists throughout their careers.

Paula Katalinic is the Professional Services and Advocacy Manager at Optometry NSW/ACT where she has been part of the team since 2004. Paula graduated with Bachelor of Optometry from UNSW School of Optometry in 1999 and subsequently completed a Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics in 2008 and Masters of Optometry in 2010. Soon after graduating, she developed a strong interest in diabetic eye disease whilst working at Joslin Diabetes Center’s Beetham Eye Institute in Boston for nearly four years. From 2009 until 2021, she was a principal optometrist and lead clinician at the Centre for Eye Health and currently continues to work on projects within the UNSW School of Optometry and Vision Science. She has also worked as a staff optometrist in the UNSW School of Vision Science and practiced in both rural and urban practices in Australia. She has a keen interest in optometric education and has presented at numerous conferences and educational events both nationally and internationally as well as participating in clinical research throughout her career.

Audrey Molloy has practised optometry in Australia since 1998. She completed post-graduate studies in Advanced Contact Lenses and Ocular Therapeutics at UNSW while working in private practice where she developed a special interest in dry eye and corneal disease. She worked for Vision Eye Institute, a group ophthalmology practice, for 15 years, in a range of roles including consultant optometrist (post-laser and cataract), referrer liaison, content marketing and communications. Audrey acquired Diplomas in Marketing (2005) and in Editing & Publishing (2014). She completed ocular therapeutics at ACO in 2018. She has worked for Optometry NSW/ACT in the role of Strategic Communications and Member Liaison since 2017.

Judy Nam graduated with a Bachelor of Vision Science and Master of Clinical Optometry from the University of New South Wales. As a research-focused clinician at the Centre for Eye Health, her interests lie in improving early diagnosis and utilising imaging technologies to develop improved health management systems. Judy is also Chair of Optometry NSW/ACT’s Early Career Optometrists committee, ECONA, where she advocates for young optometrists such that the profession continues to be an integral part of the healthcare community.
