Learning Objectives

  • Understand a basic approach to children presented with swollen optic discs
  • Differentiate between physiological and pathological anisocoria especially Horner’s syndrome
  • Understand the principles in managing children presented with unusual eye movements such as nystagmus
  • Learn to identify clinical features suggestive of ocular surface squamous neoplasia
  • Gain an understanding of treatment options for OSSN
  • Learn about sutureless surgical techniques for treating pterygium
  • To recognise the clinical features of high risk sight threatening ophthalmic conditions
  • To undertake systematic approach in assessment of ophthalmic emergency presentations
  • To effectively facilitate urgent patient care
  • To recognise vision and life threatening neuro-ophthalmic problems for emergency referral
  • Identify causes of binocular diplopia requiring urgent investigation
  • Be able to identify medically urgent causes of transient loss of vision
